2018 CSPM&R Annual Meeting
The 2018 CSPM&R Annual Meeting was held at the Hilton Long Beach Hotel on April 27-29, 2018. Attendees received 12 units of AMA PRA category 1 CME and 6 units of QME CME. Subjects included topics in spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, neuroradiology, medical malpractice and pain management. Over 65 physiatrists attended the event. Next year's meeting and ultrasound workshop will be at the Marriott San Francisco Airport Hotel, April 19-21, 2019.
New CA Assembly bill Supports Health Care Price Fixing

Sacramento, CALIF. – Today, Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San Jose) announced radical new legislation that would increase patient out-of-pocket costs and result in a dangerous government intrusion into the health care market by creating state-sanctioned rationing of health care for all Californians.
New bipartisan budget bill hurts doctors

Earlier this morning, President Donald Trump signed the bipartisan budget bill that gave physicians another cut in reimbursement. Now we know why Dr. Rand Paul was so furious he delayed the vote on this bill. The cuts will not only affect physicians treating Medicare patients, but also workers' compensation doctors because the OMFS is base on the Medicare fee schedule.

California Workers' Compensation Formulary Released

After several years of discussion and deliberation, the workers' compensation formulary was released and became effective January 1, 2018. You can download the formulary here.

Effective December 1, 2017 the California Medical Treatment Utilization Schedule will be based on the new ACOEM guidelines. The new ACOEM guidelines are available by monthly subscription through the Reed Group. CSPM&R has found a copy of the guidelines and is making the link available to it's members for free.
